Steve Juarez
Appointed Commissioner

Commissioner Juarez was appointed to the Los Angeles Fire and Police Pension Board in November 2005 by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.  He is also on the boards of the Neighborhood Youth Association and the Southern California Leadership Network.

Commissioner Juarez was appointed Vice President of JP Morgan on March 27, 2006.  Previously he was the Director of Financial Management for the Getty Trust, where he was responsible for the budget, risk management and accounting functions of the Trust, which included the J. Paul Getty Museum, three separate institutes covering the field of arts education, research and conservation, and a grant program.  Steve was formerly the Assistant Vice Chancellor for the Office of Government & Community Relations at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he directed the University’s external relations with federal, state and local elected officials, public agency representatives and community organizations on issues of mutual interest.  Prior to taking his position with UCLA, Steve was the Chief Legislative Representative for the County of Los Angeles in Sacramento, where he represented the County before the State Legislature and the executive branch of the state.  Steve was formerly the Executive Director of the California Debt Advisory Commission and represented the California State Treasurer’s Office on a broad spectrum of public finance matters.  He also served in policy positions with the State Legislature and for local government in Los Angeles.

Steve’s involvement with public finance issues has been varied and extensive.  He served on the Executive Board of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), and also chaired the GFOA’s Debt and Fiscal Policy Committee.  He is a graduate of UCLA (B.A., Political Science) and USC (Master’s of Public Administration).
