Due to a computer programming error, approximately 5,800 members did not receive their Medicare reimbursement of $96.40 on the January 31st pension roll.

Charter Amendment C was passed by the voters of the City of Los Angeles on March 3, 2009 to allow disabled children of deceased Plan members to marry or be adopted without losing the right to Dependent Child benefits.
- Survivor Benefit Purchase Program for Retirees - Charter Amendment D
Charter Amendment D was passed by the voters of the City of Los Angeles on March 3, 2009 to allow retired members of the Los Angeles Fire and Police Pension System the option to provide a survivor benefit to a spouse married in retirement or a domestic partner declared in retirement.
