GENERAL MANAGER’S MESSAGE
 

WELCOME TO THE FALL 2022 EDITION OF PENSION PERSPECTIVES.

Let me begin by saying I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve as Interim General Manager of Los Angeles Fire and Police Pensions.  I have dedicated the last 14 years to overseeing member services, most recently as Assistant General Manager.  I am excited to lead our amazing staff during this period and look forward to continuing to serve our valued members.

On behalf of the staff, I would also like to acknowledge the dedication and sacrifices all of you, our members, have made in your service to the City during these challenging times.  We look forward to providing excellent service to you.   LAFPP BOARD APPOINTS INTERIM GENERAL MANAGER - JOSEPH SALAZAR

Earlier this year, LAFPP General Manager Ray Ciranna announced his intent to retire at the end of September 2022.  To ensure a seamless transition of leadership for the Department, the Board appointed Joseph (“Joe”) Salazar as the Interim General Manager, effective September 25, 2022. DEPENDENT CHILD BENEFITS

LAFPP BOARD MEETINGS

The Board of Fire and Police Pension Commissioners will continue to meet as scheduled. However, given the evolving City and County COVID-19 safety protocols, please review the respective Board Meeting Agenda for the most current information.

 

BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE PENSION COMMISSIONERS ELECTS NEW OFFICERS 

Each year in July, the Board elects its Officers of the Board to serve one-year terms. On July 21, 2022, the Board elected Commissioner Kenneth E. Buzzell and Commissioner Sumi Parekh as President and Vice President, respectively.

COMMISSIONER WILLIAM CHUN APPOINTED TO THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE PENSION COMMISSIONERS 

On July 1, 2022, William Chun was appointed member of the Board  by Mayor Eric Garcetti and confirmed by the City Council, for the term ending June 30, 2027. Commissioner Chun fills the seat vacated by former Commissioner Pedram Salimpour, MD.
