Prior to October 2026, members enrolled in DROP would see their DROP account balances updated at the end of each month as part of the normal pension payroll process. Beginning with the October 2026 pension roll, DROP balance updates will be posted to MyLAFPP in the month following the month in which they occur. For example, the October 2026 DROP deposits will be posted at the end of November 2026.

This change is part of an update to MyLAFPP to more accurately reflect DROP balances. Members who entered DROP on or after February 1, 2019, must have a minimum of 112 hours of active duty status (e.g., hours worked, vacation, etc.) to qualify for a monthly DROP deposit. Previously, MyLAFPP was unable to reflect when a DROP member missed a monthly DROP deposit due to insufficient qualifying hours. Members would instead be informed of any missed DROP deposits when their accounts were audited upon exiting DROP and retiring.

The new process for posting DROP deposits will allow members to see missing DROP deposits in a more timely manner and provide more accurate balances.

Please visit the link below for a list of payroll codes that qualify as active duty status:

Please note, your DROP account will still be subject to audit when you exit DROP and your balance may change from what is displayed in MyLAFPP.
